Xbox Console Repair – Tips to Get Your Xbox Fixed

by Jimmy Durrant on February 7, 2010

If you are wondering if you can do your own Xbox elite repair at home, without sending your Xbox Elite back to Microsoft, the answer is yes. Yep, I bought one of those sleek black consoles just like you and bummer if it didn’t break on me.

There are many different things that can happen to your console if it is not working correctly. The Xbox Elite just cost too much to let it sit there and be a book end.

Here are a few of quick tips that may get your box back going again without cracking it open.

1. The lens on the disk drive may be dirty. Put a CD cleaner in the drive and let it run. These are the same disk cleaners that we once used in our CD player. Yep, the same ones with the little brush on the bottom of the disk. As the disk spins it cleans the lens. Give it a shot. It can’t hurt.

2. There may be some dust particles in there that the CD cleaner can’t remove. Use a compressed can of air and blow it into the drive bay. I know that there are lots of gurus out there that say not to do this because it will just evenly distribute the dust. The fact is, I have done it, and have had instant results.

3. If you are getting the 3 red light error or if you are getting any system error that prevents your console form operating properly, just simply turn your unit off, let it sit for a few minutes and turn it back on. Yep, this will work in many different situations, even the 2 flashing red light error.

If you don’t get any results after turning your xbox console off and back on, do the same thing by turning it off. But this time, unplug your console. Then disconnect all leads, cables and wires from your console. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes. Be patient and wait for the entire 30 minutes. Chances are when you turn it back on, it will be working properly.

Sometimes you just need a few quick tips to get your started in the right direction. Good luck. I hope you have success in fixing your xbox console
