Are you aware of the fact that you can still visit a trade show anywhere in the country and see one Pop Up Booth after another? This simple and innovative display design was introduced a way back in the late 1970's. In an era where businesses have to reinvent themselves every two to three years and most products have a pretty short shelf life, the Pop Up is still selling to businesses large and small. Even a company like Amazon.com uses one for smaller shows.
Why is the Pop Up Display still so popular? The pop up was so different from the custom exhibits of the 1970's in that it was designed so that one person could set up a 10 x 10’ booth with ease in under twenty-five to thirty minutes. The case-to-table conversion kit option was developed so as to both keep the shipping case on the floor instead of the warehouse and to save money on a rental reception counter. Not only does the exhibitor save money on a reception counter rental but they get to keep their shipping case on the floor. This saves time at the end of the show because there is no waiting for the union workers to bring it in from the warehouse.
Portable Displays have two primary advantages. There are other benefits but let's focus for a minute upon these two. The job of a display is to quickly communicate with a show attendee on their way down the aisle. What is the message? A). What the exhibitor offers and B). Why they should use up some of their valuable time to come into the booth. A Pop Up Booth with large format mural panels is still performing this function quite well.
Secondly, there is the purchase price. Prices for Pop Up Booths have come down by 60-65% over the last 6-8 years. This allows many a start-up that might not otherwise afford one to attend a trade show. The low economical expense related to owning a Pop Up Booth is also a factor. They can be stored in a back room or closet and ship by UPS or FedEx. They can be stored almost anyplace and ship via UPS. The fact is that a pop up booth with mural graphics still commands a 10 or 20' exhibit space with authority.
